BSSA was launched in 1911. Since then, BSSA has published innovative research on earthquake science. A success story of over 100 years, BSSA continues to shape our understanding of seismology. Established in the aftermath of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, a natural disaster considered by many as the nucleus of quantitative earthquake research, BSSA leads the way to study earthquakes and their consequences in an interdisciplinary way. Together with its sister journals of the Society, Seismological Research Letters (SRL) and the new short-form open-access journal The Seismic Record (TSR), BSSA advances the science of seismology and related fields. How is it that now I am in charge of leading this important journal and to continue the history of BSSA?
