"Energy demands and sources for the world and Australia are examined. Australia's end use energy pattern is related to its primary energy sources, and the possibility of conservation or replacement of present sources in the transport, industrial, domestic/commercial and electricity generating sectors discussed. It is concluded that there are opportunities for replacing or conserving energy in all areas, and that the provision of liquid fuels for transport is the most difficult problem and the one most likely to result in rapidly increasing carbon dioxide production."
