The study introduces a novel approach using physics-based hydrodynamic flood models, driven simultaneously by rainfall and storm surge, to estimate the magnitude and frequency of coastal compound flooding events in New York City (NYC). This is aimed at quantifying the changes in flooding hazard associated with tropical and extratropical cyclones in a warming climate.
