This study examines seismic noise data recorded before the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, revealing clear evidence of large-scale vehicular mobilization in Gaza about 20 minutes prior to the assault. Due to reduced human activity in Israel that morning, signals from vehicle movements were detected at three regional seismic stations. The analysis showed unusually strong, correlated signals not seen on previous Saturdays, indicating an anomalous and significant preattack event. Using tripartite array analysis, researchers identified surface waves and traced their sources to the south-central Gaza Strip, spreading outward shortly before the invasion. The findings highlight the potential of seismic noise monitoring to detect large-scale terrorist mobilizations in advance.
