"Reducing greenhouse gas emissions concerns everyone. In 1992, many countries came together at the Earth Summit in Rio, where the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was adopted. Countries arc encouraged to work together on ""Activities Implemented Jointly"" (AU), to find ways of reducing emissions that arc of mutual benefit. The Second Conference of the Parties (COP-2) to the UNFCCC, Geneva 1996, brought together over 1500 participants from governments, non-govcmmcntal organisations and inter-governmental organisations. It recognised the need for international agreement on action to combat climate change."
