"This second edition of Meteorology: The Earth and Its Weather is designed for introductory-level meteorology courses for nonscience students. It offers a nonmathematical introduction to modern meteorology and features many applications of meteorology to human affairs. In this edition, the coverage of a broad range of basic topics has been updated and expanded. The text now offers 13 chapters instead of 11, with the final two chapters devoted to cli mate. The second edition, like the first, reflects my feeling that other texts do not deal adequately with the effects of the ocean on climatic changes. This book discusses biometeorology and human beings’ inadvertent effects on weather and climate, with special attention to the legal and commercial aspects of weather modification."
