This report identifies ways in which the atmospheric Sciences can contribute to important human needs, and it proposes an ordering of research priorities necessary to meet these needs. Clearly, in preparing a report of this scope, competence covering Science, engineering, pub- lic policy, and education is essential. The study plan leading to this report was designed to tap the broad range of expertise required and to encourage expression of all points of view, while ensuring that the report could move forward to completion and review on a reasonable schedule.
